سبب هذه الحالة غير معروف حتى الان الا ان العلماء يرجحون السبب لعوامل جينية سببها طفرة نادرة من نوعها ..

كما نلاحظ الشخص المصاب بهذه المتلازمة يغطي الشعر جسدهم حيث ان اجسادهم تنتج كميات كبيرة من الشعر دون سيطرة الا ان امناطق الوحيدة في اجسادهم التي تخلو من الشعر نسبيا هي باطن ايديهم وارجلهم .
